Introduced in 2005.
You may have never taken the time to think about this kind of stuff but why do police officers from all around the world carry stun guns and pepper sprays and tasers? Over 11,000 police departments across the country carry taser guns. Every police officer and every mail carrier in the country carries a pepper spray. Why? The simple reason is they work and provide them with a nonlethal alternative to deadly force.
For police departments it is part of a 'continuum of force' that they use in apprehending a criminal or gaining control of the situation. They use a minimum amount of force needed to do that. If the pepper spray doesn't work then perhaps a taser will work and so on.
In the case of the civilian community, some people have made a conscious decision to avoid deadly force. There are a variety of reasons of course and it really doesn't matter what the reason is but they rely on self defense products to protect themselves.
Self defense products are a group of nonlethal products whose sole purpose is to allow you time to get away from a dangerous situation and seek help or just get away. Stun guns and pepper sprays on average are 86 percent effective. Tasers are nearly 100 percent effective.
A stun gun is a hand-held device that conducts an electrical current on one end. When it is applied to an assailant for 3 to 5 seconds it will disable him for five minutes or more by short-circuiting his body's neurological impulses causing his body to over work depleting it of blood sugars needed for energy
Pepper sprays rely on a derivative of cayenne pepper which is one of the hottest peppers in the world. A shot in the face of pepper spray will cause intense pain, tearing of the eyes, shortness of breath, coughing and a language coming from the assailant that you may not recognize.
Tasers have been shown in tests to be nearly 100 percent effective with more stopping power than a 9 mm handgun. And yet their effects are not long-lasting.
When you need a nonlethal alternative to deadly force in your self defense, consider self defense products. A stun gun, pepper spray or a taser will protect you very well in an assault situation. When are you getting some?
